In 1998 International Village (Tinseltown) was constructed on its portion of the old Expo 86 site. Henderson Developments took the reigns in the downtown Eastside with respect to development after Expo completed. Since then a number of boutique & large developers have injected projects Residential Real Estate projects into the surrounding areas of Crosstown, Gastown & Chinatown.
International Village has a variety of Asian & non-Asian oriented shops, restaurants & the 12-screen movie complex (Tinseltown). The name of this theater has led to the incorrect assumption that the entire mall & surrounding area are called Tinseltown. However it is strictly the name of the 3rd floor movie theater level of the International Village Mall.
