The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden opened to the public on April 24th, 1986. Designed by Architect Joe Wai & Landscape Architect Don Vaughan the garden was built by artisans from China employing traditional techniques & materials. This is the first the first classical full size Chinese garden built outside of China.

Like every classical Chinese garden, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen garden was built with the 4 common elements creating the harmony of Ying & Yang. Weathered Rocks, Jade Green Water, Mystical Plants & Stunning Architecture, combined are what bring the perfect experience & balance to this beautiful Garden.

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen made a huge impact during his time. He developed his ideology during long periods of exile. After the 1911 revolution, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen became the President of China. This ended the Imperial Dynasty. Though unable to unite China was held in extremely high regard as “The Father of Modern China”. The Doctor visited Vancouver three times, in 1897, 1910 & 1911.
