This is the first Canadian museum dedicated to the history & culture of the Chinese community. There were a number of stages developing the Chinese Cultural Centre, which began in the early 1980’s. The entire city block in Chinatown where it is located was dedicated to this one of a kind community project.
Temporary exhibits present the work of a variety of local & international artists. While the permanent exhibits in the centre focus on the history of Chinese Canadians. The buildings of the Cultural Centre blend a variety of modern & classical Chinese architectural styles.
Open all year around, the Museum offers guided tours, language
classes, Tai Chi workshops and historical discussion groups. The city block the
museum is situated on also houses the “Chinese Cultural Centre Museum &
Archives” as well as the “Dr. Sum Yat-Sen Gardens”.
